"I got a huge rush out of beating everyone in the timed mile"

I came to high school with no intentions of ever running cross country. Yes I liked to run but it never even crossed my mind to do it competitively. I played jv volleyball the fall season my freshman year and it wasn't for me.

"I realized how much I missed the sport"

Here's my "I almost didn't run cross country" story, (It's quite long and complicated so I tried to make it as concise as possible). So in middle school I almost signed up for cross country, but never did due to my drama and gymnastics commitment.

"all the girls were so nice and friendly and encouraging, we decided to stay"

So I had never been a runner, and I actually hated running in PE. But my freshman year one of my friends (we'll call her A) had a friend (we'll call her B) who convinced her to come out to xc.
