"all the girls on the team were great friends, and I didn't talk to anyone"

I almost didn't run cross country freshman year(I'm a sophomore now) because i ran a little kids league when I was in 6th grade and I wasn't super into it, so from 7th-before 9th grade I played field hockey. I didn't know if I wanted to keep playing though because all the girls on the team were great friends and I didn't talk to anyone so I was in general super miserable. Plus I didn't get to be the goalie because they already had 2 older girls for it. My mom told me that my track coach emailed her and said I could always do cross country, so I went to the end of one of my schools cross country practices. It was embarrassing to say the least, but I got to meet my now coach(he's great) and my older coach there, and I ended up quitting field hockey, and even swim this year to do winter track. It was the best decision of my life because I met a ton of great people and we have lots of fun, plus I realized I'm only good at running, and I've made it to cross country states this past season.
