"I had set my eyes on being a sprinter"

I almost didn't start distance running at all, let alone XC. It was my freshmen year of hs and the only sport I did that year was track. Before the season started, I had set my eyes on being a sprinter. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I don't make sprints but instead get moved to distance. I was considering leaving because I felt like I couldn't do it but I told myself that I had friends on distance and decided to stay. After track, I did XC and fell in love with it, not only the sport but the people who were around me and helped me become better as a runner and as a person overall. I'm glad I chose to stay in distance because it was one of the best decisions of my life
