"the first day of practice came and I was so nervous"

Throughout middle school I never ran or enjoyed running, but my brother ran xc and was very good at it. Eventually high school came around and I wanted to try a different sport because I was no longer a fan of the sports I played throughout middle school like basketball and volleyball. So I decided to do cross country thinking if my brother was good at it, I would be too. The first day of practice came and I was so nervous. I remember waking up early that morning dreading it. We ran an intense 3 miles that day and I remember saying to myself in my head finish this and you will never have to run again. I wanted to give up there. I thought I wasn't cut out for the sport and that I was crazy to be joining it. I stuck with it for a little longer to see if I could improve or enjoy it and needless to say I started becoming a better runner and the runs didn't seem as hard. I also made some of my best friends through the sport and made a lot of incredible memories. I'm so excited for next years season and to be getting back to doing what I love most. Cross country is probably one of the best things that has happened to me. I can't imagine my life now without it.
