Bad races do not define you.

Bad races do not define you.

Ok so to begin, I have had a really rough season. Last season my times were great, and I was fast but this season I have seemed to fall behind. This season I was always competing for the top spot, but as I was competing for that, I was also focusing on my times. I have had so many poor races this season, but I was really upset as I approached my conference meet and blew that race. Everyone was questioning me like, why didn’t you run fast? Why were you so much faster last season? Are you just sore? Why didn’t you stay at the pasta dinner? Why didn’t you come we missed you at the ice baths? I made this season one that I didn’t enjoy so much. I wallowed in my sadness and kept thinking about every bad race. But then I realized, why? Cross country is about your times but it is so much more than that. I realized I am that same runner that ran those fast times last season. I realized that I shouldn’t have skipped those pasta dinners to reflect on my bad races. Cross country is about your team that becomes your family and working hard and enjoying everyone’s progress. Cross country can be a serious thing but most importantly, I need to learn to enjoy it because it goes by way to fast. Luckily for me, I have the rest of my hush school career but for those who realized this too late, I am incredibly sorry for them. Enjoy cross country while you can because it doesn’t last forever
