"I am now running for a division one collegiate team"

I just moved halfway across the country to start high school. Upon signing up for my classes, my guidance councilor, also the boy's XC coach, told me I should get involved and suggested running. By the time I started, they were already halfway through their season but I ran up with the varsity girls during practice. I ran a junior varsity race and ended up getting 2nd! The week before they were going to race me on the varsity team, I got a stress fracture. Through track season I struggled with shin splints and almost never thought I could run pain free. I was dealing with a lot of family issues too. However, sophomore year came and I decided to try again. Since then I had become the number one distance runner for my high school by my senior year and was a captain for cross country, winter track, and spring track two years in a row. My XC family helped me through a lot both on and off the trails. I never thought I could be capable of what I'm doing now. I'm lucky to say that I not only had one XC family, but two. Thanks to the support of my teammate's, coaches, and family, I am now running for a division one collegiate team. I hope to inspire others to never give up and keep working toward your goals wether it be running related or not. I almost didn't run cross country but I'm thankful everyday I did.
