time to let go.

Dear running,

You have taught me so many valuable life lessons , you have given me discipline, grit, passion, and most importantly, you have shown me I am capable of so much more than I ever thought. I wonder why after two years of inconsistent races I keep coming back. It is because you have taught me to keep pressing when I going is tough, but I don’t know if I have the energy to keep pressing. I am exhausted, I am exhausted of pushing my body, I am exhausted of trying to balance school and running, and I am exhausted of tearing myself apart after every race and ending up in tears. I do not know if you are worth it anymore. I will always love you and you will always be a big part of my life, but I think it is time for us to part ways for a while. One of my favorite running and life quotes is “Be Brave”, it’s my Garmin watch face, it’s on the necklace I wear every day, and it’s written on my spikes. Right now this feels like the brave thing to do for me, this is not a goodbye, it’s a see you later :)

With Love, MA
