WHY I RUN

I tried thinking of one specific reason why I run. But it was almost impossible. There are so many things I love about it. So here it goes.

------------------------------------------

-I run because I love the exhilarating feeling that I get after I pushed myself in a really hard workout that I really really really wanted to give up in.

-I run because of the amazing people on my team. They are the people that keep me coming on the days I feel tired and don't want to come to practice.

-I run because I love the feeling I get when I'm on a run, and I feel so good that I feel like I could run forever. Those runs make it all worth it.

-I run because I love knowing that I was strong enough to get through the races that have sucked, and I've felt absolutely miserable. I love knowing that I never gave up, and that I pushed through it.

-I run because I love the the atmosphere of the sport. I love going to cross country meets and seeing everyone cheer for each other, I love seeing that one person who may be in last but they still keep going. I love seeing two people fight for 1st place down the home stretch using every last bit of energy they have. I love seeing people achieve the goals that they have set.

-I run because it is the most natural and pure sport. Humans were built to run and have an amazing cardiovascular system. All you need is some running shoes, and determination to run.

-I run because there is nothing like the feeling of getting a personal best and knowing that you've worked hard for it. There is nothing that can replace that feeling.

-I run because of the amazing opportunities I have had to meet so many new people.

-I run because it's made me realize that my mind can dominate over my body.

-I run because it has helped me get over so many hard things. It is a way for me to let go of everything, clear my mind, and recover. It may break down my body but it has healed my mind.

-I run because it gives me confidence in myself. That if I could get through that race, I can get through anything that life throws at me.

-I run because everyone else hates it. It's a unique sport that not very many people do, and I like being different.

-I run not just because I love seeing myself succeed, but because I love seeing others succeed, and get better times than they had before. I love seeing a huge smile on someone's face when they got a better time, or pass that one person who was in front of them the whole race on the straightaway.

-I run because I love when I'm laying in bed at night and I think about the goals I want to accomplish, and I get so pumped up that my adrenaline starts going and it's hard to go to sleep. That's how I know that I'm doing something that I'm truly passionate about.

-I run because I love running in the rain, snow, or extreme heat, and know that everyone else stayed inside that day.

And last of all I run because it has taught me more about myself than any other sport or activity ever could. I know myself better because of running. And I'm very thankful for that. I'm thankful that everything worked out the way it did and that I was able to find out about the Mountain View Cross Country team. Because I could honestly say right now that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made at this point in my life. And I would not be the person I am today without it.
